We are still in contact with the vendor of the printer to work out the
problem. As we also have better results with the Gutenprint driver for
this particular printer under Mac OSX, we are quite shure, that there is
a problem with the actual Mac OSX driver.
If we have news about this topic we will post it on the list.
Our interest actually is to know, if other people also made the
experience about different quality in printer drivers betweeen Mac OSX
and Windows or if we have may discovered it the first time...

At tests with a colleague, I have significantly better profiling
results on driving an A3 photoprinter from the PC instead from the
Mac OS X 10.4.11.
Various tests over the years on a variety of printers have not led to
the same conclusion. You'll have to specify with what printer you have
had these results.
