Doesn't that depend how contrasty is your RGB images to begin with? If the
image lacks deep shadows, you know that converting with or without BPC
turned on should not make a huge difference.

If you keep with us we'll try to save you from ending in a mental
institution ;-)   But I admit, color is not always trivial.
