I'm aware of the differences between dEab and dE2000 (and 94). I've been
tracking the colorimetric stability of a pair of Epson printers for the last
16 monts through an ECIr chart. If I plot the dE over time using the ab
formula, I get much worse result than if I use the 2000 or 94 formula. The
worst offender is the yellow, followed by magenta, cyan and black.

But, as much as I trust the empirically developped weighting behing 2000 I
still feel edgy looking at the graph of dEab over time. That's why, to
supplement the numerical analysis, I've started to run a set of CMYK images
alongside the ECIr target to see how well the numbers agree with the visual.
