It probably will. But a greater or smaller gamut would be the result of how
it sends the data to the printer so its apples and oranges I'd say.

For example, on an Epson, you can send data using No Color Adjustment
resulting in a larger gamut than using Color Controls. The later can often
provide better ink delivery in the darker areas at the expense of color
gamut. So I'd agree that alterations to the driver affects the gamut. And on
a Quickdraw or GDI driver, you can't really feed CMYK so its hard to make a
true apples to apples comparison here.
