With regards to the screen uniformity tools (in both displays) I

Without the SpectraView II software, you're not getting all the
purity you
could be getting (isn't the correct Chris)?
FYI, the NEC 2690 has a US based cousin, LaCie 526. The Lacie comes
with a hood and software and instrument (private labeled Eye One
Disiplay 2)
Another gem from Karl's and Chri's presentation. Just because a
company
OEM's the same panel, doesn't make the reduction in price a good
deal,
often, the quality of the panels sold to such companies are not of
the same
caliber. Karl explained how the panels are made in huge pieces and
tested,
those that don't necessarily fall within original manufacturer's
spec are
often sold to others, in this case LaCie.
The Sony Artisan as an example used the same tube as other lesser
expensive
Sony models but each tube was hand picked from the line for specific
tolerances in order to be built into the Artisan package. You get
what you
pay for.
