Re: MIDI device icon ambiguity

Actually, there's a better solution that we've never really discussed on the list.

Notice the directory structure of the Generic Images: /Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/Generic/Images
Also notice that in AMS' MIDI Property window, there's an item in the "Icon Set:" popup that says "Generic"

Here's what happens:
[1] AMS scans all directories in /Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/.
[2] AMS then scans the *subdirectories* of the folders found in step 1 for a folder named "Images".
[3] If AMS finds an "Images" folder, it creates an Icon Set for that particular item, and shows all images in its "Images" subdirectory in that icon set.

So, for example, a better solution for Pete might be to create and install icons in

/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/M-Audio/Images.

Then, the next time AMS is run, an item named "M-Audio" will appear in the "Icon Set:" popup, and all image files in /Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/M-Audio/Images will appear there.

I'd strongly advise this solution over installing additional icons in the '.../Generic/Images' directory

Best,
Luke

Can I install image files into this directory?

Is there some other way to make the images available to the user?

Boy; I am just a fount of queries lately.

For what it's worth, as a user, I've installed my own icons in that folder.
I think that other music software users knowing about the technique have
done so as well.
