Setting the "it is a socket" bits in the path mode is... um...
probably a very bad idea. But it may not explain what you're seeing.
I can have someone check that. It will take a little while to check
though.
What are possible side effects of setting the longer mode? In lieu
of a document I took chunks of that file from an example application
that was out there...
