I would have been happy just pulling the power plugs and walking
away, as you suggest.  Sadly, some people thought that would have
been irresponsible and caused even more confusion than the announcement
did.

As for current content, we're going to make an effort to ensure
anything people want is still available.  Several people have
asked about hosting some of the content, and we're working it
out.  This isn't an immediate shutdown.
If you'd like to discuss the OpenDarwin shutdown, its content,
or anything related to it, the OpenDarwin lists are probably
more appropriate.
