By trial and error and putting part of the code in separate shared library, I have now managed to put my method at the desired address (for the morbidly curious see: http://www.mulle-kybernetik.com/weblog/2009/12/some_more_fishing_around_the_e.html).
I'd still would be interested to know, out of curiosity, what is going on with the linker.
