Re: Am I Doing Bad Stuff?

Hi Lance,

The file, "MyDriver.kext" has problems that may reduce the
security of your computer. You should contact the
manufacturer of the product you are using for a new version.
If you are sure the file is OK, you can allow the application
to use it, or fix it and then use it. If you click Don't Use,
any other files that depend on this file will not be used.

My question is, what agent of the OS decided this was a message
to present to the User and what might be the origin of it's
complaint as I was not doing anything (I know of) at the moment
the alert appeared.

If I am doing something bad with my kext, are there any
suggestions to help me determine what it is I might be doing wrong?

Thanks VERY much!

Lance Drake

This is discussed in the kernel extension release note:

<file:///Developer/Documentation/ReleaseNotes/KernelExtensions.html>.

A point of interest is this sentence: "The next customer release of Mac OS X will not load KEXTs with invalid ownership or permissions."

Thanks,
