I was originally voting 55% for Open Firmware, 45% for EFI and 0% for
BIOS on the day of x86 announcement.
However, it could turn to 100% - 0% - 0% pretty soon.
I recently asked EFI folks two VERY critical questions. One is pretty
much the same what Joel has the concern about, but I just realized,
there is an even bigger problem around than "just" the run-time driver
being part of the firmware or not. Hopefully I will get a clear answer
to both questions soon and I will post it here so we can see what are
the options.
