Open firmware vs. cardbus controller vs. IOPCCardBridge

I have a question about IOPCCardBridge and its dependencies on Open Firmware.

I have a desktop Mac, into which is plugged a 3rd party PCI card with a TI 1420 PCI to Cardbus bridge. The device is detected properly, but fails to initialize, evidently because some of the setup and registry population that is done for the built-in cardbus bridges on PowerBooks is not done for PCI cards on desktops. The card comes up in the registry with a 32-bit memory range, but no I/O ranges, which causes the IOPCCardBridge to bail out. I've looked through the ADC library, but this seems to be a "use the source" situation :-).

Does anyone have any hints on what needs to be done in advance so that IOPCCardBridge will recognize a device? I don't mind pre- initializing it as long as I know what needs to be done.

Thanks,

Amanda Walker
