PLX PEX 8114 Trouble on the MacPro

Hello List,

we are developing a driver for a PCI Express card, which uses a PLX PEX PCI-to-PCI-Express bridge to access the Intel 80314 which is part of the original PCI-X card design.

We - including the hardware developers - expect this to be a non- tranparent bridge, giving us direct access to the 80314. This, however, is not the case

The IO Registry lists the PEX 8114 as a IOPCI2PCIBridge, and this is where the story ends. On other x86 hardware, the bridge is transparent as expected. We did not (yet) try on a G5 PCIe

Does anyone else here experience a similar problem? Is it possible that the MacPro is not compatible with the PLX Chip?
