Hi,

apologies if this is the wrong list to ask such questions, but I can't find anything more appropriate. Does anyone here know whether the iSight driver firmware (AppleUSBVideoSupport in your System directory) is available under a redistributable license? I've patched the Linux UVC driver to support the iSight, and it requires the firmware to be loaded. However, Linux distributors (e.g. Ubuntu) cannot distribute the firmware unless it is properly licensed (something that allows redistribution).

If it is not, what is the proper channel to request this? I've already contacted the Apple software licensing dept., but they only license out stuff where licensing agreements already exist, and this is unfortunately not yet the case for the iSight firmware.
