But drutil uses the DiscRecording framework and only works with cd/dvd burners. If I could use DiscRecording with non-burning drives I'd be very happy, but that doesn't seem to be possible.
Ah, good point... hmm... There is an ejectMedia() type method in the IOMediaBSDClient (and the CD and DVD versions). This is a bit more involved though (i.e. driver level)...
