Yes.  I use a process that's at least similar to TN2118 to configure
them.  I think the only difference is that I use a slightly different
boot_args debug value gleaned from various tech notes.  I'm currently
using:
$ nvram boot-args
boot-args       debug=0x1d44 _panicd_ip=10.0.1.90
