Yes. I use a process that's at least similar to TN2118 to configure
them. I think the only difference is that I use a slightly different
boot_args debug value gleaned from various tech notes. I'm currently
using:
$ nvram boot-args
boot-args debug=0x1d44 _panicd_ip=10.0.1.90

I have a follow up though.
Yesterday, I configured the nvram boot-args parameter on a PPC G5 but
I made a mistake and the computer was kernel panicing very early in
the AppleSMU module as a result. I was able to retrieve the
situation by booting to Open Firmware (opt cmd O F + power switch)
and setting the nvram parameter there.
However, the same set of keys don't seem to work on Intel and I can't
find any docs on the Apple web site that tell me how to boot to a
firmware prompt. Is there a way? Or if not is there another way to
retrieve a mistake of this sort?
