Are they going to do it so it still allows the other SSE2
instructions if you have a Pentium 4? And when do you think they
will release it?
I'm not sure, but my gut tells me that isn't very likely. When doing
these releases it's easiest to target the lowest common denominator
boxes so it has the best chance of running. I haven't investigated
things well enough to know if we can do fat (universal) binaries that
would individually target these different features.
Sounds like a good hacker project to me. Good luck.
