Thanks a lot for your help fellows.
On booting verbosely I found that the message hanging up the boot
process was "Still waiting for root device", which I solved by
specifing the root device in the bootloader. Now the process stalls
at "Waiting for application services" but finally arrives at the
login.
Now I will try to configure the network settings, but I cannot manage
to use scripts (do not know how to, but I will be doing some research
today).
