| Hi Kelly (Max?), First of all, drive number assignments in the /dev/ directory are dynamic (unless this has changed with v. 8.0?). So a GNU/Linux /dev/hdb is not going to translate to a specific drive number in Darwin. Second, you need to specify which partition you're trying to mount. Here's what I'd recommend: Do an 'ls /dev/disk*' before putting the CD in your drive. Note the drives listed (drives are listed in the format 'diskXsY', where X is the drive number and Y is the partition number). Now put the CD in and do an 'ls /dev/disk*' - you should see one more drive appear. Now just mount the preferred partition using the mount_cd9660 command. For example, it may be 'mount_cd9660 /dev/disk1s2 /Volumes/cdrom'. My guess, judging from the drives you listed, is that your CDROM device will be /dev/disk2 - assuming that the other four drives are completely inaccessible from Darwin. If they're accessible from Darwin, it'll probably be /dev/disk6. If you boot with a CD in the drive, the device would probably be /dev/disk1. On Jun 24, 2005, at 5:21 PM, Max Smith wrote:
