Rock on!

I elected for the 1024x768x888 as the card has 8M on it, so that shouldn9t
be too hard. Matrox Millenium something (I think, ~3 yrs old). Anyway,
watching it boot was like watching my NeXTdimension boot in console mode.
Well, no where near as bad, but it9s nice to be able to read stuff as it
runs across the screen.

So I9m guessing that there is something in the darwin port of XFree86 that
is forcing the selection of this display. Also, after the startx exits the
console is dead, but I9d guess that to be the driver in the console getting
munged.

This is a kernel that I rolled by sources current of 28 April, if that makes
a difference. I9d gamble that linking against the AppleG3SeriesDisplay
[compiled for x86] may be a bit verboten, if it even compiled. Every
resolution I tried other than the default would bomb out with the same error
(different resolution, in each, of course). It always reports 75Hz though.

It seems I might have munged something up, unless Xdarwin keeps state
somewhere. I can9t startx at all now, it always bombs out with the server
crashing. If I had a different video card, might I have better luck?
Perhaps an ATI product?
