Re: Darwin 1.3.1 on beige G3 won't boot : OF says "no bootable HFS partition"

I've got it running on my Beige G3. I installed in on a Maxtor Diamondmax+
40GB IDE drive:

- 1st 4GB MacOS 9.1 and MacOS X
- 2nd 4GB Darwin 1.3.1

My Startup Control Panel is 9.21. I am using the onboard Rage II+ video with
6MB VRAM. I do know that Darwin 1.2.x at least is quite fussy about this. I
could never get it to install when I was using a 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 video card.

I think you need to make sure the partition is within the 1st 8GB of the
drive, same as of OS X. And it probably won't boot off a 3rd party SCSI
adapter. I tried install OS X on my SCSI drive connected to a PowerDomain
2940UW. Installation was ok, but it just wouldn't boot. So the same probably
applies to Darwin. The other thing I had to do when installing OS X was to
put an external terminator on the PowerDomain. Somehow the auto-termination
is not recognized.
