The Darwin partition is the first one on the disk, and it's size is 4 GB.
I also tried installing it on an external 4 GB SCSI drive, and I got the
same result.

I also used Startup Disk 9.2.1 (also tried with System Disk 2.6.2). But you
mention that your G3 has Rage II+ video, which indicates it's a rev. A
whereas mine is a rev. B (Rage Pro video). There are a few important differences
between the two logic board (eg the rev B supports 2 drive on the same IDE
channel) which could explain why it works for you and not for me.

I guess I'll have to wait for the next release.
