Darwin 1.3.1 on beige G3 won't boot : OF says "no bootable HFS partition"

Hi,

I've installed Darwin 1.3.1 my PowerMac G3/233 rev B. The partition
size is 4 GB, and it's the first partition on the drive. I've followed
the instruction (select "Erase disk first" in ASR, and use HFS+) and
then I used the "Startup Disk" control panel to select the darwin
partition (it says it has a "Mac OS X" system on it). However, when
I restart the machine, I get the following message repeated 15 or 20
times : "no bootable HFS partition". Holding the option key boots in
Mac OS 9.1 without any problem.

The G3 has 96 MB of RAM, and has no extra hardware. The hard disk
is not the Apple installed 4 GB, but was replaced by a IBM 30 GB
(master on IDE bus 0). Could it be that the disk is not supported
or not correctly set up ?

Thanks for your help,

P. Stadelmann
