Re: FreeBSD port collection

I have installed a couple of the items from the port collection successfully ( nmap, tcpshow, and ncurses ), here are two links with more info. I also believe that one the folks at the Gnu-Darwin organization mentioned that he had ported most of the FreeBSD ports collection to Darwin. the way that I have found that works best is to download the ports collection ( off of the site listed below ) then change to the directory that you want to install and then follow the directions listed on the ports pages. I have also found that replacing the config.sub and config.guess scripts provided by Apple in some packages eases the transition.

Has anyone tried installing any of the FreeBSD ports collection under Darwin? I've installed the pkg_add command
I wondered if a simple pkg_add package.tgz is all that is needed
