It was my experience with the Mac OS X PB that if you used a standard text
editor in the terminal to write java code and then used javac and java from
the command line, it would NOT appear using the Aqua GUI unless you
specified it to use the system's default look-and-feel. I don't remember
what this code fragment is, but it's on the Java JumpStart Kit from Sun :)

As I never tried to get anything to run under console, I have no idea what
it would do as far as trying to create a look and feel is concerned.
