Re: LPR on Mac OS X

From: Jack Wright <email@hidden>

I'm trying to get lpr to work on Mac OS X/Darwin, but I keep getting:

$ lpr -Pixsmim2 test.ps
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon.

I can use this printer from Aqua, but it would be convenient to print
from the command line.

Did you set up the correct netinfo settings?

Here are the settings for my OKIpage printer (IP is "print"):

% nidump printcap .
okipage: \
:lp=:rm=print:rp=okipage:sd=/var/spool/lpd/OKIPage: \
:ty=PostScript:

works fine (well, except lpc, which doesn't read netinfo).

You can insert a file in this format into netinfo by executing "niload printcap . < file".
However, I don't know how to get USB printers to work.
