Subject: Apple and Open Source: Two Drinks that Don't Mix
I quote from this article:

In this case, it turns out the free software sticklers win the debate. Apple does not fully release the Darwin source into the public source. Key drivers are left out and some workarounds for chip bugs are pulled before the public versions are made available. This keeps Linux developers from using the Darwin source as a reference. This is not a case of code being held due to Non-Disclosure Agreements either. Apple engineers have confirmed that Apple really does not want Linux to get a leg up.

Is this true? It sounds like a heap of crap to me. The only missing drivers are a few, like Airport, and there's everything for a fully working OS on NewWorld machines in Darwin.
