is the ' \ ' an accident in the email or actually how it is? You should probably take that out

use 'c++'
and try this syntax ' c++ Hi.cc -o Hi
this should create the executable ' Hi '

Hi.cc:1: iostream.h: No such file or directory", or the cursor freezes.

this is probably a linkage problem, do you have the latest version of dev tools?
