Are you using a ufs or hfs+ filesystem on the mac to store the
Solaris /dev info on? I would guess HFS+ would screw things up.

If you havent, try the GNU tar, the tar included with Sun is a tad
different. The GNU tar _might_ work. The same thing on the Apple side.

Offtopic, but I would love to see Sun support booting from firewire.
I think it would be kick ass to boot my blade from my iPod. I would also
like to see solaris support it too but...

If you DO get this working I might invest in a G4 portable so can
you post to the list? =) I need to have my Zenith 386sx portable replaced
at work anyway and I might convince them they have to buy it instead of
me if it works. =) I have to upgrade 80 Sun servers this month.
