Re: boot server os X -> solaris, ipod, and SUCCESS!

sean and all,

got it- with some inspiration from one of the authors of the sun
jumpstart book (interested?- buy it), and jed's helpful suggestion to
look carefully at the netinfo man page, i finally got it: i am now
installing solaris 2.8 from my mcTiPoBook. it was my lack of ability
to read the osX man page carefully enough to implement the bootparams
PROPERTY information properly, which kept me from getting it earlier.
btw, at least mr. howard at sun did this before me...

sean, i'll put together some "how-to" doc and send later- now you can
make a case with the money holders to buy you a new mcTiPoBook install
server for those hundreds of machines you have to install.

i haven't done it yet, but as i suggested earlier, i would highly
recommend you investigate the flash install method, since you have a
bunch of machines of the same type. it is described in detail in the
sun blueprints book (mentioned above): "JumpStart Technology" by john
s. howard and alex noordergraaf, isbn: 0-13-062154-4. you need that
one anyway, sean. good luck. go for the 800 mhz, and i will be
supremely jealous...

thanks again to everyone for their help. : )
