Re: DISPLAY environment variable with XDarwin

Have you tried setting DISPLAY to 0.0 or :0.0? This should use the "local" transport, whereby X clients and the X server will talk to one another using loopback rather than actually going through more layers of the IP stack.

Just a thought...

I've run into an annoyance lately, and I'm not sure I've found the problem,
only a workaround.

When I try to set up remote display under XDarwin, xhost + hangs, and then
eventually says "unable to access display localhost:0.0" (or something to that
effect).

If I set an environment variable "DISPLAY" as my IP + the display
(x.x.x.x:0.0) it works fine, I can display remote apps with no problem.

Anyone know a better way to do this? Setting DISPLAY to "localhost:0.0" does
not work -- it complains it cannot find "localhost." I have also added my IP
to /etc/hosts, localhost is in there, and NetInfo has both as well.

Thank you all for any help you can offer.
