How to increase MAXUPRC

Recently I bought more memory and I encountered an unexpected problem,
I frequently reach the number of allowed processes for a user, e.g. I
get "fork failed: resource temporarily unavailable".

A user may have 100 processes and someone might argue that that is
enough, but I am using fvwm2 with lots of virtual desktops and and
xterms and swap between different projects and that's the way I like
to work.

I have tried to increase kern.maxproc with sysctl and that doesn't
help, so seems to be MAXUPRC. Is it possible to increase this value
from userland? The computer is really fast and responsive and has free
memory so it seems like a low value.
