After starting a bunch of processes, about 49-50 Processes,
OSX puts out a message that:

- No More Processes can be run

If you type: ls some-directory
There is no problem at 50 processes.
But if you type: ls some-directory | more
there are no more processes left.

How do you increase the process limit in OSX?
I would like to run over 50 processes.

You can change this limit for a particular UID with setrlimit (q.v.) (RLIMIT_NPROC). Each shell typically has a built-in command to change this kind of limit as well; check your shell's man page.

FWIW, the limit on my (10.1.4) system appears to be about 100; perhaps you already have a boat-load of processes running already.

Regards,

Justin
