Running CLI scripts from the GUI

Hi, I have noticed that in many forums, including this list, there have been many ?s about how to make a script (MyScript.command or MyScript.cmd) run without opening a terminal window. I am also wondering if there is a remedy, but I also offer a small (and probably already examined) incite. The 'Script Menu' provided on the apple web site launches any kind of script (AppleScript: Application or compiled script, and unix shell scripts) without any display except as designed by the script. ie, launching a shell script from this menu does not launch a terminal window.
It may be useful to examine how it does this so that OSX could possible be amended to always do this, removing the annoying terminal window.
