chroot -> Illegal Instruction

Hi,

I'm trying to use the 'chroot' command in Mac OS X (10.1.4) console mode
(I'm presuming the same as darwin) but I keep getting "Illegal
instruction" for anything I try. Commands I try look like:

chroot -u nobody -g nobody /usr/local/foo /foobin/someprog

Is there something wrong with this? Has anyone got this command to work
on their system? Thanks.
