font problem?

Hi,

I can't see special characters like k, i, ` etc. in XDarwin (under MacOS X), nor in the OS X Terminal. Is this a font problem? Can I work around this problem by installing other system fonts? I think this are two separate problems, but I would be happy already if I could solve the XDarwin part of the problem for now, because that's the most irritating.
