Process to HUP when DNS doesn't seem to be working ...


Hello, all ...

I recently had a problem on my PowerBook, where after I opened the lid and connected it back to the LAN, names wouldn't resolve to IP addresses i.e. somehow it wasn't talking to the DNS on the LAN. I tried bouncing en0 (sudo ifconfig en0 down, sudo ifconfig en0 up) but that didn't change anything; I logged out and back in, but that didn't fix it. I restarted, and that did ...

So why am I bugging everyone here? Simple -- restarting bothers me, I would much rather restart a process than restart the box. Uptime is everything <smile>! Can someone illuminate me as to what process to bounce the next time this happens?
