So why am I bugging everyone here?  Simple -- restarting bothers me, I
would much rather restart a process than restart the box.  Uptime is
everything <smile>!  Can someone illuminate me as to what process to
bounce the next time this happens?

I suppose you could send "configd" a HUP, as an alternative.
