Re: Restarting the internet stacks (kernel panic)

Is there a way to restart just the internet stacks in UNIX? I don't want to restart my machine every week and I don't want to wait around for a crash either.

A kernel panic means that something is really wrong, and the kernel can't "back up" and make it better. The IP stack is an integral part of the kernel, so you can't "restart it".

P.S. If somebody at Apple who can make a difference reads this, I would be happy to cooperate in any way I can to get this bug fixed.

As has been mentioned, this list is for developers to interact, not a mechanism for contacting Apple. You would do better to file a bug report (<http:/bugreporter.apple.com>). If you are waiting for a response from Apple, you could wait a long time.

Regards,

Justin

PS: when you do report it, be sure to include the panic report and any information you have that relates to the crash (what you were doing at the time, ...).
