Recently Microsoft released update 11.2.5 for Office 2004. One of the updates was supposed to fix an issue that intel based macs had with smartcard based certificates. I have this installed now, and can now at least select the appropriate certificate in the account properties area. Unfortunately it errors out when I try to send a signed message. However if I wish to send an encrypted message it works fine. I'm looking to see if this is an issue for anyone else.
