Re: Java Environment on OS X

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework is the root of Java on X. This
does cause some major confusion for some Java apps wrapped in shell scripts
that expect things to be in certain directories.

The Classes directory contains the core classes as you probably already
guessed. /Library/Java/Home/lib contains some of the other runtime
information (such as default property files). The ext directory there
includes additional jars automatically found at run-time (in accordance with
Sun's Extensions specification).
