Are there any plans at Apple to also release the source code for the MacOS port, and the MacOS-specific extensions? No, there aren't. It'd first and foremost be a licensing issue, but that's not the only complication -- we also use non-public APIs from time to time (typically things that aren't yet ready for wider release or are very specific tweaks for things that Java needs) and would also have to do a very thorough review of our source code to ensure that it could be released.

That said, we'll be releasing the source code for at least two of the presentations that were shown at WWDC -- Steve Lewallen's session on wrapping Mac OS APIs in JavaBeans and my and Pete Steinauer's session on using Mac OS X technologies in Java applications. Hopefully we'll do more of that in the future, at least for the extensions that we provide that aren't too intertwined with the rest of the class libraries.
