RE: Any good sources of docs for really understanding JTextPane and the View, Element and Document workings?

Here are a lot of articles about JFC,

http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/index.html

Look under the heading "The Swing Text Package" for some detailed
discussions on the architecture of the text package,

http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/text/overview/

http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/text/element_buffer/

Subject: Any good sources of docs for really understanding JTextPane and
the View, Element and Document workings?

I'd like to use the facilities provided by JTextPane and its associated
classes to
build a "structured editor". However, none of the docs I've looked at
(including
quite a few Swing books) give a very coherent exposition of the
internals of
JTextPane, i.e. the various View, Element, and Document classes. The
O'Reilly
book, for example, goes rather laboriously over such things as
properties for
various of the classes, but utterly fails to give any example of how
they are
used, or how one might extend the classes for custom functionality.
Can anyone suggest a source for better documentation?

Thanks,
Ken -- email@hidden

P.S. please email as well as replying to the list, I recently
unsubscribed from
the project builder list, and since that I haven't received any java-dev

postings
either. I just reentered my data, but we'll see if it works...
