Java CGCapture with firewire DV on OSX

Hello.

I am trying to capture and display video using Java on OSX 10.1.5. I am using an iBot firewire webcam. I tried the CGCapture sample code from the Apple site (made in 1999) and 99% of the time I get:

quicktime.std.StdQTException[QTJava:5.0.3g2],-9405=couldntGetRequiredComponent,QT.vers:5068000

When it (rarely) works, the video camera setup screen comes up first and when I hit 'OK', the video is presented in a window.

There are 'C' samples such as "Hack TV Carbon" which work flawlessly every time in my environment. Probably not worth mentioning but, these programs do not start by first presenting the video camera setup screen.

I am new to Java and to video capture on the Mac. Does anyone have a robust solution which works in Java?

Thank you.

- Mitch
