Re: javaEnabled is false in Netscape 7 PR 1 on OS 10.2

Arrgghh....

Okay, so I thought I had a weird problem where I couldn't crash Mozilla and everyone else could. I was starting to feel rather special :-)

Anyway, I've finally crashed Mozilla. In my haste, I haven't tried a Java applet in the final Mozilla 1.1 until just now and I can crash too. However if I mv <parent directory of Mozilla>/Mozilla.app/Contents/MacOS/Plug-ins/MRJPluginCarbon.plugin out of that directory, Apple's Java plugin takes over and Java works (no LiveConnect). Netscape 7's similar MRJPluginCarbon.plugin cause no such problems. I'm not sure if it is using Apple's Java plugin or the MRJPluginCarbon, but regardless it just "works" under 10.2.

Hope that helps,
Tarun

(BTW, apparently my previous statements about Mozilla working were after removing the internal plugin...)

All later Mozilla's include the MRJPluginCarbon file inside of the

The contents of my /Library/Internet Plugins/ is:
DRM Plugin.bundle RealPlayer Plugin
Java Applet Plugin Enabler Shockwave Flash NP-PPC
Java Applet.plugin Windows Media Plugin
QuickTime Plugin.plugin nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt

Interestingly, the recently release Netscape 7 (Final) also reports
true on your test page for me. And this is build off of a Mozilla
1.0.1x build.

I deleted all the files from the previous MRJPlugin and Netscape 7 PR 1 still
works (but says javaEnabled in false) but Mozilla 20020826 still does not work
(but says javaEnabled true). I will check out Netscape 7.0 final; if you don't
hear from me it works and reports javaEnabled as true.
