Re: Mozilla 1.1 crashes loading applets

Mickey

I am using moz 1.1 on Jaguar and am able to see the output from that applet in the console.log (though the java console item is dimmed on my menu and http://segal.org/enabled/ reports false)

Tried to create the VM in the Java Applet.plugin.
We detected that one already was created for this browser.
Using existing VM.
**Warning** this VM MAY not have the expected Java Runtime Parameters.
Hello Java Console

To get that I did have to remove the java plugin supplied with mozilla(MRJPluginCarbon.plugin). Its inside the application package in the Mozilla.app/Contents/MacOS/Plug-ins/ directory.

prior to removing that plugin even trying to select about plugins would crash the browser.

I haven't tried switching apples plugin for the mrj plugin distributed with mozilla, so I don't know how that works, but it is pretty obvious that having both installed crashes the browser.

I downloaded the latest "Nightly Build" offered at:
http://www.mozilla.org/
and it was Gecko/20020826.
It crashes whenever I try to run a simple java applet such as that at
http://segal.org/macjavabugs/WriteToConsole/
It reports javaEnabled (http://segal.org/enabled/) as true.
