In the for what it's worth department...

We haven't found that QT for Java (5 or 6) offers sufficient fidelity for our needs (and QT for Java 5 doesn't work on any other platform using the Sun reference JRE of 1.3 or 1.4).

re: when will javax.sound.sampled be supported. Don't know, but the lack of support DID cause Apple to lose a major contract.
