"RageM6" signifies the Mobility version of the Rage 6 chipset - the Radeon Mobility. M7 is the Radeon 7500 mobility, M9 is the Radeon 9000 mobility found in the latest crop of powerbooks, and so on.

Not necessarily. If I recall things from my home G4 correctly, the early Radeon chips were listed as "Rage" variants. (Not being at home at the moment, I can't verify this.) It might be that later ones are, too.
