I'm currently using Idea Version 2.6 which runs great on OS X. I also have version 3.0x which doesn't run. This is primarily because Apple still wander the halls on JDK 1.4.1 which is required for 3.0x. Personally I really like the features in Idea especially version 3.0x.

I've used Visual Cafe, Net Beans, JBuilder and Idea and even note pad in a production environment and I prefer Idea, hands down.

Hopefully when Apple gets an actual release of JKD 1.4.1 (probably when Sun releases JDK 2.0 ;)), hopefully Idea version 3.0 will work. The plugin features and Live templates alone make it worth waiting.

* Code and keyboard centric - love IDEA
* Fast - Eclipse looks good
* No memory hug - any difference?
* Listen to Mac OS X users - this is really important... Will really Intellij do that?
* Not to expensive - free is best but not a religion


What I'm doubting about IDEA (among other things):
- Mac OS X support
- Slower and slower
- Price

What I'm doubting about Eclispe (among other things):
- Stability
- Looks like a lot of mouse clicking...
- Hurray - I could enter [] but still not {} (Swedish keyboard) - But still better than IDEA where I still have to switch keyboard language temporary :(
